I have a 2004 F350 w/ 83,000 mi. When I let off the throttle when the engine is warm, I am getting a whistle noise that i believe is cooming from the Resivoir cap. Also I have a little white residue around the cap. This winter I had the coolant flushed and they over filled it and it has stayed consistant at about a 1/2" below Min line. Does any one belive that the heads may be going, or should I doo a EGR delete or an Elite Diesel Blocker plate? Thanks for any help!
I had the same sound as you in December. Turned out to be th HG. I had the dealer replace it with ARP's. Now it run great with no puking around the degas bottle and to wistling sound. Have the HG checked
I checked my degas cap and it is already new. The only time I hear the whistle sound is when the engine is warn and I let off the throttle all the way or after it switches gears and the rpm's drop fast.
Do you know what a turbo fart sounds like? It could be that after you described when it occurs. Anything else will be pretty consistent. Guess it could be a cracked intercooler boot/hose if it was really small. It will get more consistent with time though.
Turbo farts don't sound like a whistle, unless he's describing it as a whistle incorrectly.
Yea that's why I was asking if he knew what it sounded like. Just doesn't seem likely that he wouldn't hear the noise at high boost, only when he lets off the the throttle.
A turbo fart sounds like rushing air, it makes a sound like "whoosh whoosh whoosh". Usually does it quickly a few times when you let off the throttle and high boost levels.
