I don't see anything to be concerned about as far as rust go's on you truck. Just do as others has suggested.
I might clean all the drain holes and dirt off.
Another thing about the POR15 that I forgot to mention... a little bit goes a long way! A quart of that stuff would be way overkill for what you're doing. I used almost a whole quart to do my entire frame, axles, springs, etc on my Early Bronco. I brushed two coats on everything by the way.
lol ya'll that are used to rust may not bat an eye at it. but for me never having to deal with it ever before it feaks me out.
i've heard alittle goes along way with that stuff since its real thin? but i have other trucks to use it on so i will get more then i need just for this.
Sherwin Williams also makes really high quality industrial coatings, primer and paint, that seal out rust. No prep work required ,except cleaning off the dirt first then brushing it on. Make sure you are in a well ventilated area before even opening the can if you use it?
