I'm going to be changing the pcv valve on my Bronco's EFI302 tommorow.I see it's on the back of the right valve cover, but I'm wondering how difficult it is to get to.....doesn't like like a lot of space to manuver in.I checked my 1990 owner's manual to see what part # a new pcv valve for my engine is.It lists EV-140.I went to a local Pep Boys store, and cross referenced it with a Purolator PV140. Looking at it on the engine, there is a rubber grommet, with the pcv valve inside it.The grommet looks warped,so I want to replace it,too, but now I'm wondering if I got the correct valve for my EFI302. What is the part # for the rubber grommet? If I just replace the pcv valve, and not that,it will just be a waste of time&effort. Thanks in advance.
there is plenty of room to get the pcv valve in and out of there. If the grommet is not cracked, or rock hard, I don't see a reason to replace it. ev140 is the correct number for it, and for grommets, I have a box full of different grommets that I bought, so don't know that I can give you a part number, but it's just a regular hole grommet that you should be able to pick up pretty easily.
Thanks, guys. It was easy to replace. It needed replacing, that's for sure. I bought the Bronco with 92,670 miles on it, it now has 127,000 on it. That was the one routine maintenance item, I hadn't replaced. I got mixed signals for changing it, FoMoCo suggests every 60,000 miles, but Puroilator suggests every 10,000 miles to replace the pcv valve. I agree with them.....10,000 miles,or sooner.
