Question Highboy Bed Box Question

Ford Masters,
I am new to this web site and have been reading some of the information that was perviously posted, which has been really cool and helpful for future knowledge. I have a 75 Ranger f250 4x4 (Highboy) and I need to change the 8’ bed. I understand that the frames have changed to a wider version in 1977.5. What would it take to use an 8’ bed from 1977.5 to 1979? How is it done? Do you have to reinforce the bed mount cross still? Is it worth the trouble?
Thanks for your help.

You have the right idea, you'll need to drill new holes and reinforce the supports if you want to. Just use some tubing cut to fit and figure out a way to get them in there.

Thanks Josh,
I was thinking tubing, but was not sure if that was the best rout because of vibration. You think I should wield the tubing?

Nah, with the carriage bolt cinching down the bed floor and supports on top of the frame it'll be gravy.

The neatest way I have seen , was using square tubing the right size for the shoulder on the bolts, and weld them in, That way you can use original bolts.
