Collar Swap

Hi guys - my '62 F100 floor shift now has a new turn signal switch, but missing the cancel cam, which seems to have gone the way of the dinosaur. It was suggested to me a few months ago to maybe swap out the whole steering collar with a newer unit. Any suggestions would be cool - thanks

B9A13318A .. Turn Signal Canceling Cam / Obsolete / No Ford Dealer or obsolete parts vendor has any.

Fits: 1961/62 F100/250 2WD / 1959/61 Full sized Ford Passenger Cars (before 11/2/1960) / 1960/62 Falcon/Ranchero/Comet.

btw: A (shift) collar is what the shift lever fits into.

Are you saying that it was hit by a giant meteor hurtling to earth thereby effectively causing a global climate change thus rendering your cancel cam extinct?

It's not extinct, it's just pining for the fjords.

Rare bird, the Norwegian Blue! Beautiful plumage!

It's not pining, it's bloody well passed on.

If the top of your column tube looks like this:

most collars, up to '77 will bolt on. If you get one from a '73-'77, you can have built in emergency flashers, too:

If the top of your column tube looks like this:

your options are to modify the tube so that the later stuff bolts on or get a '63 or '64 column tube and it will bolt right in.

Unfortunately I can't open your pictures Charlie - that would be most helpful. I've been digging around some Falcon parts suppliers, and found one of them has a repo cancel cam that would replace mine (the threads are all stipped out for the handle to screw into.) Although a good find, it's not the part I thought I was looking for; there's still supposed to be another thing in there that actually kicks the switch off after making a turn. Don't mean to sound ignorant, but what the heck am I looking for?!?!?

The pictures should display themselves. Are you someplace where they restrict certain things?

There is a gap at the top of the column tube which locates the collar. If this gap is at about 9:00, many newer collars, and the associated switches should work. If that gap is at about 7:30, the newer stuff will not mount directly to it.

The piece that turns the switch off is a part of the steering wheel on mine.

D5TZ7228B (replaced CODZ7228B) .. Shift Collar / Use with 3 speed Manual Transmission / Obsolete

Fits: 1960/65 Falcon/Comet // 1961/72 F100/350 // 1966/77 Bronco // 1973/77 F100 // 1975/77 F150.

If an A/T, the collar is the same 1965/77 (D5TZ7228A replaced C5TZ7228B), but it is not the same as 1961/64 (CODZ7228A).
