I have a '96 F-250 5.8L 4x4 with a manual trans and 3.55 ratio.
The biggest chip upgrade I can find is about 21-24 HP, so I am considering changing my rear ends in order to get better pulling performance. Can anyone give me some advice or ideas on how to get more power and pulling performance out of this truck, the rear end change seems like it will be expensive.
If you have the stock tire size those 3.55s should be doing pretty good. I'd look into other methods. The gear change, if your paying someone to do it, could cost well over 1200 bucks on a 4wd truck. Parts alone is 500-600 bucks with rebuild kits. Labor is a big one and it depends on your area (cost of living) but it aint cheap.
