I read all the comments several times(just to make sure I wasn't missing the one that you were referencing) and I didn't get that impression at all.

He might not have seen rather or not you were specifically talking about the 6.0 with your oil question or not, but I would imagine that if he truly didn't think you had a right to ask questions on there, he might not have suggested you taking that to an oil/lube forum.

I don't know how you would have reacted had you posted this in the General SuperDuty forum and they directed you to either the Oil/Lube forum or the 6.0 forum for a better picture on the product even though it for sure would have been fair game to ask that question in the General SuperDuty forum as well.

Typically when people ask about things like for instance tuners, they are directed to the specific forum for such an item as those people that are in those forums live and breath those products. You might actually get deeper insight in the oil/lube forum from people that might use that oil in other applications that have noticed bonuses or negatives with running such an oil. While this is engine specific forum it is still more general with regard to tuners, oils, suspension etc. For those products, you'll actually see more people set in their ways with certain things and less likely to be aware of the products that are out there and their specs as well.
Thanks, I will be more careful and specific in the future.

In my opinion, stick with major brands that meet CJ-4 specs and you will have no problem, dino or synthetic. I personally prefer the 5W-40 synthetic.

And if you want to stay with Pennzoil, they make a diesal oil called "Long Life" which is most likely Rotella now.

the oils with cj-4 will have more ware than previous grade oils because of the lower zink and phosphorous levels.

That's what is in the truck right now but will be changing to Rotella synthetic before we tow the boat to Hatteras in May. Thank's for all of the advise. I do put about 8oz of TCW-3 in the fuel tank with most fill up's as well as diesel kleen. Seems that the engine starts easier with that as well as runs quieter. The TCW-3 is meant to be burned in the 2cy engines so should not have a detrimental effect on anything. Hopefully will get the cat out and gutted prior to the trip also. Damn hard to get the aft coupling loose on that though so waiting for warmer weather.
