When it takes 12.5 hours to change injectors, you might think about it too. Apparently the copper seals had failed on two of my injectors, causing what little space there was to become hard packed with fuel and soot. I knew I had a compression leak on one injector, but not two. I had to use a slide hammer to remove them, then I had to lay on the motor with picks, a flashlight, and a vacumn scraping the crud out of the bores. One of them had to be the far injector next to the turbo. Thankfully my best friend was there to help me and keep my temper in check, I couldn't have done it without him. The truck is alive again and will hopefully get the timing checked this week. I dont plan on dropping the hammer until I know everything is kosher with the timing.
So I was right warning you about them injectors, unfortunately... At least yours unscrewed, one of mine is so stuck I had to use a 3ft cheater pipe on the breaker bar to get it to even turn!!! Needless to say that injector is still on the engine

Thats what we were doing, breaker bar with a cheater pipe. I thought about just putting it back, but after it unthreaded and wouldn't come out the top, it wouldn't go back in either.
Motor was cold, truck had been sitting the last 2 days.
I had to get a new socket set since I needed a deep 1" socket for the injectors. I had wrenches but they just kept slipping off. I also had to buy a shotgun cleaning kit to clean the bores out. It had wire brushes and fuzzy ones to wipe them clean. I guess I could use it on my paintball gun as well.
I just replaced the injectors in mine as well but I didn't do any cleaning in the bores. I pretty much just removed and replaced. How critical is it to clean out the bores? Will the new injectors not seat propery?
I would not be looking forward to pulling them out again that's for sure.
It's possible you could end up with a compression leak if the copper washers dont seal properly. Then you may get to share my experience of crud caked injectors that refuse to leave.
