I have a 79 2wd with a 302 and no ac. I bought a set of Summit headers for $119 and finally installed them last night. They totally suck!!! It's like they are made for something else. The collector hits the trans linkage and I had to remove the crossmember to get them to fit. Is it because they are a generic header?? I'm now going to remove them and either buy Hedmam or Hooker. Can anyone give advice and what you have used and how well they fit. My truck is now down until I remendy this problem.. Please no one suggest modifications because I know there has to be someone with a direct fit..
I was told the Summit headers are based off the Flowtech.
I'm looking to do the same, but i have 76 f-250 highboy 4x4. I read a lot on headers on f-150 and 2 wheel drive they all have this problem. but i read you buy higher end headers and that makes a better fit, I'm waiting on someone to let me know if the same problem happens with the f-250.
