Timing chain- skipped tooth

All set to install a new double timing chain in my 79 f100
351m. The stock single chain is very slack and has no skipped.
How do I properly align the crank and cam prior to slipping the new set on to ensure they are properly timed

Line the dot on the crank sprocket to point at the cam gear, and the dot on the cam gear to point at the dot on the crank gear.

Dot to Dot inline.......

One trick:
Line up the dot on the cam before taking off the old chain. Much easier to move the cam with the crank. Then line up the crank.

For the record, watch out on lining up the dots on some engines (the 351/400 is normal). My brother had a 57 ford six that actually did not line up dot-to-dot. You put it so that there were a certain # of links between the dots. It got me, and was hard to diagnose (I actually had to look at the manual; the shame of it all). I think that Ford used the gears from another engine to save cost or something.
