The pin is lined up and seated correctly. That was an issue the first time I took it apart, but has since been corrected. EGT's are fine, just a damn ticking noise at idle and low power. Buzz tested and every other thing I can think off and no apparent problem. No codes, just noisy gremlins. I'm thinking manifolds, but cannot find any soot anywhere.

Question... Could I have stretched the V-clamp when the pin was not seated, resulting in a leak?

I had to replace mine, after doing the up pipes and turbo upgrade, the clamp would not hold the down pipe in place and it would slowly let the pipe creep till it started hitting the frame, replaced with new and no more worries, I'd say that it would not hurt to replace that clamp and triple check the alignment of the wye/turbo connection.

I'm having a similar problem which started after I changed the o-rings on my turbo pedestal. There is a light ticking sound and a slight exhaust smell. Had a heck of a time getting the V-clamps off and deformed them. I bent them back into shape and thought I was OK.

Do you know what size the V-clamps are?

I just bought the Ford OEM clamp, not sure of the size.

The last time I noticed a ticking/buzzing sound it turned out to be the injector hold-down bolts and rocker arm pedestal bolts. Here's the link:

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/8...ing-sound.html

I would say about 80% of the bolts I checked were loose.

Just another possibility to throw out there...

I torqued all the injector bolts and whatnot when I had the v-covers off. I've actually done it twice more when trying to find this noise. I'm very confident they are correct. But thanks for the info.

alright thanks for all the info guys. im still pretty new at this so forgive me if i ask some stupid questions. i was looking on riff raff and could't find the new up pipes. how much are they? and is there any way i could tell for sure that thats what my problem is before i spend the money? i thought maybe if i was looking over the hood and had i friend give it fuel or something if i could see smoke coming out behind the turbo? and if thats what my problem is would it hurt to drive it untill the new parts come in? and also is there anything else that would need to be replaced while the turbo was off?

Reach in behind the turbo, between the firewall and the up pipes and see if you get any soot on your hands. Around the up pipe joints as well. That should tell you if there is a leak. I got exhaust smell in the cab when mine were bad.
Go to RiffRaffs site and under you year, look under OEM Parts. $400

They are pretty cheap, but it a real job to change them. If you only have to do it once it is worth it. That being said, it still takes $. Good luck with your project and take your time and go thru the write ups here. You'll do fine.
