The saga continues. I recently bought a 49 F3 without an engine, but it did have the 4 speed transmission installed. As luck would have it I found a 226 flathead 6 only 200 miles away. The engine is in great shape but the problem is it came out of a car and not a truck. I found a set of front motor mounts that bolt right on and figured I was in tall cotton. Now my issue is the 4 speed does not bolt up to the engine. Obviously the car engine has a different starter plate that is not compatible with the 4 speed. Any ideas where I can find a starter plate for a flathead 6 that bolts up to the 4 speed? Any ideas will be appreciated. (Originally posted in Flathead forum)
Greg, check with John Blacketer in Seguin, TX. I just sold him a '50 F-2 with a 226 and 4 speed. It was a complete truck. You can contact him as follows.

John is a member of the Early Ford V-8 club that I belong to and he never crushes anything. I just didn't have room for the truck or I would have kept it.
On another note, we here in Texas have a get together about 2 times a year. It is called the Cen-Tex F100 group. Made up of a bunch of FTE-ers from central Texas. Last time we met in Marble Falls and we are starting to plan another outing soon. PM me if you are interested in meeting with us.
I have a 226 that came out of a 49 truck I am sure I have all the stuff you need if you are interested in it. Someone ran it out of oil and it was locked up really tight. The kicker is that when I tore it down I noticed that I had not been long since it was overhauled. Anyway I have the flywheel, starter plate, starter, bellhousing and everything else that was with it. My email is fifty-two_f1@ndwave.com. Let me know if you want some pictures
