I got the p1151 code from a check engine light. I read on other threads that that comes from a bad O2 sensor or bad wiring caused by a lean condition, I'm going to change both anyway. I was wondering if it is running lean why is there such a strong smell of gas? Is that another problem I should look into, or is that also an effect of a bad O2 sensor?
The bad O2 sensor is telling your computer that the mixture is too lean.
The computer responds by adding more and more gas to the mixture. The bad O2 will still read lean. That's where the fuel smell comes from. All this unburned fuel will cause your cat. converter to fail if you dont correct the O2 problem soon.
