The link Cowboy posted is good one. If you want video to go with it, u- tube has one. Type in f-150 ball joint replacement once your in and there is a 7+ minute video. I tried to cut and paste the link but the whole page pasted. As for drilling tie-rod ends to add grease fittings its not worth it.
If they are that bad new is the way to go. I just bought the right inner, outer and adjuster tube for $100 Canadian. Good for Delco parts up here.
Its not that hard but whatever you decide to change good luck
My truck used to squeak all the time when I hit bumps and turned the wheel. The ball joints are dry inside and since there is no grease fitting on most of them all you need to do it take a needle greaser and poke a hole in the boots and grease them and it took away the squeaking sounds piece of cake and it should also help with the life of the ball joints and since they told me it would be 400 bucks to fix I guess this was a cheap alternative.
have you checked the pitman arm? i know those have fittings, but sometimes, the grease monkies at lube shops over-fill them, and the grease all falls out, and sometimes its so worn down, grease wont get to certain spots. I agree with fitter97 on the drilling idea, if its gotten to this point, go ahead and replace 'em
i think before i replace anything, ill give the grease needle a shot. i looked them up on autozones website, but there werent any pictures. how does it work? does it go on the end of a grease gun, or is it like a hyperdermic needle?
Autozone sells them that is where i bought mine for like 4 bucks or something it is a thin needle with a ball on the end for the grease gun.My whole front end squeaked and I took it to midas and they told me it was the ball joints and they are common for losing grease and drying out and he told me to try this and it worked great no more noise. That was about 6 months ago and now since winters past I think it is about time to grease them again. But it is a cheap fix and will make your joints last longer if anything.
Autozone sell these in the store I am sure this will fix your problem hope I helped.
thanks for the link. yea i looked it up on autozone's site, and they didnt have a picture of it. i am deffinately going to try that next time i go home. and if thats not it oh well im only out four bucks... besides i will probably find more uses for it once i have it.

my quote for life "better to have it, and not need it, than to need it and not have it....."
I just thought of a VERY cheap fix for this, but has no positive affect in the short or long run.... just turn the stereo up!
well i have been doing that for too long.lol. now its getting nice out, and people are out, and now everyone is out crusing on friday night. and well, i love attention and when people stare at my ride, but i rather it be because of the awesome sounding exhaust and coolness of my farm truck, not because its squeaky.
