I think that my X might have a remote starter installed. There is a relay under the dash where the fuse box is located and there are a few wires spliced into the ignition harness.
Any way to tell if this is for a remote start?
That leads to my next question - If it is installed, is there any way I can just purchase the remote fob? The Truck only came with one key fob and it is the standard one.
Well best is to crawl up under the dash and see if you can read any info on the box, then if it is would be to find a remote and then programmed for the box/truck. If you had more than one remote you can program more remotes into the system/truck yourself, otherwise its off to the dealer.
also you need to find out if you have a chipped key (pats) and hope that the box is still programmed in the system.
I posted a pic of mine in my gallerytake a look it may help.
Thanks for the reply. I traced the wires from the relay and like I said earlier, some of them were spliced into ignition wires but the other ones terminated at a long white connector that is no longer connected to anything.
I think I might just leave well enough alone, the truck runs now an if I start messing with electrical stuff that might change
