On my 2000 F250 Lariat, if the motor is running the remote key fob dont work. Normally this would be fine but I just had a remote start installed and now I either have to use the key or shut the truck off to use the fob. Is there any way around this?
Add the keyless entry to your remote start , problem fixed !
How's that? I think what he meant is, your truck won't let you lock the doors with the remote if the key is in the ignition. Running or not. It also won't let you use the lock button on the inside door handle. All meant to keep you from locking your keys in the truck. But, the outside keypad WILL let you lock the keys in the truck.
So, maybe I'm misunderstanding. But how would the remote start lock button be any different?
I dont have the keyless entry key pad. On my truck, If the engine is running, key in the ignition or not, the remote fob does not work. Wich means when I start it with the remote start I cant unlock the doors with the fob. It's a minor inconvieniance but i'm lazy and dont want to use the key to unlock the door.
Like 350z said, you will have to get the keyless entry add on for your remote start. The early Super Duty trucks disable the factory keyless entry when the vehicle is running, I am not aware of any way to get around that. An add on keyless entry module will just use your trucks power door lock system, that should still work while the truck is running.
What Beerstalker said... Factory keyless entry is disbled when the engine is running. But adding keyless entry to the Remote starter....It isn't controlled by the truck...it has it's own "Brain" so it isn't affected by the OEM system.
