chugging/pinging sound

Ive had my FX4 for a month now and Ive noticed a chugging or pinging sound comming from the passenger side of the motor. Tonight was the first night the temp fell below freezing that Ive drove the truck. Ive noticed this sound since day one but it seemed lounder tonight.

I have seen in the 04-08 forums people complaining of such a noise in the 5.4. I had an 07 XLT with the 5.4 but had never heard the sound so I didnt pay attenition to what you guys were all talking about lol.

Is this normal? If this is a known issue with 04-08 5.4's I was hoping Ford wouldve got this taken care of. Ive only got 1,000 miles on the truck. Is there a fix for this?

My truck has a noise comming from it. I took it in and they said it was normal. I can only hear mine during acceleration, And i need to be beside a wall or something to hear the echo. Not sure if it's the samething yours is doing but i know if my 460 was doing it i would think it was a main bearing. but its been doing it for 15 thousand km's with no real problems.

the 3 valve 5.4 does have a pretty noticeable injector tick sometimes... could also be a cam phaser. Probablt nothing but 'd get it checked sooner than later.
