ok im taking the truck to paint tonight and i had to torch half the bed bolts off since they were rusted together. i was wondering if i had to go threw the stealer or were i could get them from
I don't know where you could get them, they are a pretty weird bolt. I just make my own out of 1/2" carriage bolts. I grind flats on the carriage bolt head so a adjustable wrench will fit, and use large washers that the square part of the carriage bolt will fit through to go under the bolt heads, since the hole in the bed is so big.
i just went to our local hardware store, taking alll the old bolts (well, pieces of the old bolts, hah ! ) with me as samples. then i dug thru the 'grade 8' drawer till i found very similar sizes ( just length and diameter, never mind the thread pitch--i just got matching nuts as well. dont forget washers top and bottom ! ) and it worked fine.
i know my bolts im a diesel mechanic and have the availability of them since there in m y shop, i was just trying to avaid having to use 2 wrenches and 2 people
I hear you, I actually pulled a bed off of a 77 the other day and had to cut the front driverside bolt off, because it screwed in from the top and the phillips head rounded. lol

Did the same to my 95 makes taking the bed off easier I can take the bed off in 5 minutes easy with another person!!
The only thing bad about using standard bolts is that: A. you need two people to take the bed off, and B. With the extra height of the bolt head, although small, may make it hard to slide things into the bed. Just a thought.
