I have a 03 4.2L 99k automatic that has recently started having problems. My big one now is famous reading p0175. Which already read a bunch of the forums that suggest pcv(replaced) or elbow plus hoses(replaced), O2 sensors, plugs and wires or MAF sensor also seen maybe coils but not real sold on that. The problem is at half throttle really between 40-60mph im getting quick jerks and just of yesterday seems to be small backfires to hard to hear. checked the pcv valve cover cleaned it, sprayed the maf sensor. Looking for other ideas really quick fixes and verification before going and pulling O2 sensors and replacing MAF as well as plugs and wires. Thanks
I love the first timers asking for 'quick fixes' that don't understand the code and all the items that could cause it.
The code is telling you the fuel tables in the computer software are at there rich limit, therefore set the 175 code. The Ox sensor for bank 2 is the device that detects the condition and caused the table shift.
Some of the causes could be, leaking injectors, faulty fuel regulator, air leak from the mass air meter forward, gasket or rubber parts attached to the intake, the EGR system, vapor recovery system or a combination of any.
Look at the rubber parts first, then suspect an injector on cylinder 4,5,or 6 but don't rule out the other causes.
Good luck.
Yea first timer for sure, i wasnt meaning a quick fix by a roll of duct tape or anything just wanted to start small and work up. but i think i will go ahead and change the pcv valve, plugs and wires recommended at 100k anyway, but will let you know if problem continues.
