After this past winter months I have noticed that the starting of my excursion 7.3 has been a little rough. I have been a little hard on it since the glow plugs and GPCM had needed to be replaced.
Of couse the issue doesn't happen all the time but only sometimes.
Course of events:
1. put the key in and turn and wait for the "curly Q" thing to go off which is on the left side of the dash for me.
2. I hear a faint woosh sound just as the above is turning off. Normally hear that everytime.
3. next I turn the key all the way, and it will either turn over, or start to turn then stop and a whinding sound appears, or it will not turn over and the whinding sound appears.
4. If it starts then cool. When it doesn't then I repeatsteps 1-2 again until something catches and the truck starts.
The main question would be is this my starter going out and needing repacing?
I have search on ebay and a few other places and found numerous starters. Does anyone have a part number for a replacement one or a specific brandd used? Some on ebay say high torque and some dont. Which would I need.
