The purple heart I used was dark purple from South America and had a waxy resin feel and was so hard you could not drive a stainless steel screw through a 4/4 board without drilling a hole first. What kind of purple heart is yours?

Hey Stan!!!!!!!!
Which one would look the best on this: (These photos don't do this grand old pistol justice!)
And another:
I would like to have something 'a little lighter', with
LOTS of grain .
(That's why I like the Asain Satinwood.)

Sweet man. I'll take anything you want to get rid of. If you have a 1911, I'll make you set.

I don't have a 1911 yet, but am currently looking. are they a universal fit?
How thick does the wood need to be?

As long as you don't get a Taurus, they'll fit. The Taurus is a little wider grip. Other than that, just let me know if you'll have an Govt/Commander frame, or an Officer frame (smaller, compact gun).
Preferable thickness is 5/16th or wider... and again, preferably in multiples of 5/16th with 1/16" kerf per resaw (cut), but I can make anything work. Minimum is a heavy 1/4".
