I hope ND the best, he has helped us in so many ways, as type this I can already see him with a book in hand telling the doctor what parts to order, and where to get them from. ND .... get well son
Well everyone, I found Bill's phone number and called him, on the 16th of march he had a minor stroke.
He told me that he will be gone for a while if he comes back at all.
So, Please keep him in your prayers.
Bill,
Thanks for checking into the situation with Bill, the ND. I hope you keep us posted if/when you check back in with him.
Wouldn't it be a nice thing to send the Ol' ND a card or something.....via, "The '61-'66 FTE gang"...?
This thread got my attention from another forum which I frequent.
I viewed his profile, he's turned the Visitor/PM features off. Good call on his part. Y'all need to understand, it isn't easy being on here when you've gained "forum fame", especially on a LARGE site as this. It's even more aggravating when you're dealing with some real boneheads.
Bill, hope you will bounce back with strength. But do take it easy from now on (yeah right). Take it from someone who is actually older than you!
Well this isn't good news and it is the second time I have heard it today. I'm standing on the hanger deck of the Hornet at 6 pm when I see a friend wheeling a cart loaded with the personal possessions of Jim our archives guy. He was a signal man aboard the Hornet from 1968-1970 and is the guy I go to when I need info on replicating the ship during my restoration. You could call him "Ship Dummy." I ask Dave what is up and he goes "you don't know?" I hate that question as good stuff never follows. Well he had a stroke and has lost his speech about a month ago. He'll be in therapy for awhile and won't be back for awhile if ever?! Well, damn!
Ironic as both these two are crusty old farts to say the least. Jim is 60 and not in the best health as he smokes and doesn't eat healthy. I know Bill has diabetes and possibly high blood pressure given his comments about weight and that is not a good combo. However, they are both alive and that is very good news. Now they need to get certain things in order to hopefully prevent another occurrence. Wish both of them as speedy recovery as possible...
So far I am in the detox phase of a Bill (ND) fix, currently practicing on the Master Parts Catalog CD, talk about an exercise in futility. As a retiree, it took awhile to learn if it becomes too stressful always have the luxury of putting it aside for perhaps another day. Bill, needless to say, First and Foremost it's important to focus on your health; hopefully, at some point a little FTE in moderation won't be all that bad, our prayers are with you, you are missed, take care!!.
Wow, hornet in the mid 60's, wish the couple months spent were fond memories.
