Im going to disassemble the overhead console to DynaMat. Has anyone ever pulled this thing apart?? This about the only thing i havent disassembled in the truck, and i would like a little input before i start. I just want to make sure im not going to get any wrinkles in the roof lining when i take it apart.
Not sure if I understand correctly where you're going.
I've pulled down the console, in my case, to install a radio antenna.
Remove the single screw, in the eyeglass holder IIRC.
Pull the back down gently till it pops, then pull the front down.
Then slide the assembly forward to take it out of the retainers in the back. Two cables to unplug, and it's free.
I did not remove the mounting bracket, that looked more involved, and wasn't strictly necessary for my project.
I ended up using a Ryobi weed-eater blade to reinforce the antenna mount, as the roof metal is rather thin. Pictures are on-line at
ok, well thats all I really need then. When i get a good bass drop, I get a substantial rattle out of that compartment.I wanted to pack it with DynaMat, and i didnt want to disturb the roof lining. Well, it sounds easy enough...Thanks for the Info!
