Well i finally got my new clutch in and i've really been enjoying my swamps tunes now. But the excitement has worn off and i'm wanting to waste some more money. The problem is i just dont have too much to waste. I looked at injectors but they're rediculously expensive. I don't want to lose my reliability or driveability of the truck but i do want to be able to smoke some more dodges. i spend a little money over time on my truck and im pretty satisfied with where it is but im still wanting a little more. i've been looking at a wicked wheel but i don't know how good they are. if i didn't do that i would like to look at maybe a ats housing. im just open to any ideas on how i can get a little more power for a little more money. ya'll have always helped me with these decisions before so im hoping you can again. thanks
The wicked wheel or ATS housing won't give you more power, it'll just keep your turbo from surging when you put the power to it.
Do you have gauges? I know these things aren't power-adders, but I'd look at gauges (if you don't have them), open air intake and a full 4" exhaust, not just straight piped(assuming stock). All of that will allow you to use more of the power you are making. Letting the engine breath better will help keep the EGT's down meaning you can pull it a little harder than you use to, instead of having to back out because of high temps. Plus, it builds a great base for injectors, turbos, etc.
to add to what farmboy said...
get the WW and a 1.0 exhaust housing for the turbo..put The Adrenaline HPOP on there for them oil hungry injectors and send your cip back to be programed for higher ICP##'s you will feel gains all the way though the RPM's...
X2 what they said. If you don't have intake and exhaust, that, coupled with your chip will be good for what would y'all say- another 40hp & 70ftlb? The difference is amazing! And like they said once you slap a 4" exhaust in there you can run pretty much any sticks that you can afford (if you're like me )
thanks for the info. yeah its still the stock exhaust for right now i really haven't done my homework on exhaust for this truck. what's good/bad? do i need stainless? etc. i've looked at the 6637 just haven't bought it yet. im not after a ton of power. i would be satisfied with 350 or 375 although 400 would be nice. i've looked at hybrid injectors but cant bring myself to spend that much money
and this is going to sound like a dumb question but im still pretty new at this. are you talking about getting the adrenaline for my stock injectors? i've heard the split shots like oil but i didn't know the adrenaline would help that much. to be completely honest im looking for anything i can do without having to pay for injectors. that price would be rough on my college budget
Yes, they're talking about the adrenaline or a modified HPOP for your stock injectors and getting your chip re-burned for it.
Intake, exhaust and gauges should be your priority right now if you don't have them. If you don't have any turbo surge at all right now, I'd start to question your tunes. Swamps tunes should be able to get you turbo surge, which would then lead to needing either the wicked wheel or ats housing.
i have surge. i just didn't know how important it is to get it taken care of. is it something that needs to be done soon or is it not a big deal. like everyone else i just want the most power on the lowest budget.
guessing i need to move that up on my priorities. is it better to get a ww or a different housing. and how exactly does that work i dont understand the whole turbo surge thing
Either one should work. It changes the boost curve of the turbo, which is what cuts the surge. Surge is actually a compressor stall (intake wheel on the turbo)
You'll hear a louder whistle with either of these options, but it should cure your surge for the most part.
