yes it is a real ranger due to the warranty plate. a few things to notice, the ranger is I believe the only package that came with a dash pad, all others was optional, has carpeting, although I know you can get replacements this carpeting looks older. door map pockets. I do not believe the ranger emblems are being reproduced but I could be mistaken.
Also my guess to the seat would be that at some point the buckets wore out and someone found a bench in good shape at a yard and put it in.

All 66 units had a dash pad by federal decree. It was for your own safety, just like seat belts.
65 66 Ranger inserts are re poped.
And you could order your ranger with a bench seat.
All this truck has saying it is a ranger is the reproduced 66 bezels and inserts. Carpet is newer and not original. The steering wheel is replaced as the custom cab wheel is color matched. It also has a non working speedo and a FE other small details. But on the bright side it does have a 390!

I believe, if you check, the federal mandate for padded dashes was not required until Jan '67 and at that time regulators standards were for cars only. Trucks and motorcycles came later.
My '66 F100 CC came stock without a padded dash. (I really wasn't there when it was originally purchased, but it is obvious it was never there).

The only way to verify if it's a true Ranger, or not...is by the specific to Ranger's BODY code.
There were three different Ranger only BODY codes used in 1966.
T81: Black Crinkle Vinyl & Black Rosette Vinyl Bucket Seats = Ranger.
U81: Parchment Crinkle Vinyl & Black Rosette Vinyl Bucket Seats = Ranger.
V81 = Red Crinkle Vinyl & Red Rosette Vinyl Bucket Seats = Ranger.
The seats and seat tracks are the same as 1965/66 Mustang.
The seat upholstery used in 1966 is the same as used in 1966 Mustang's (except GT's).
The center console used in Rangers is the same as 1964/65 Falcon Sprint.
There is absolutly no way = NONE, to find out how many Rangers (or anything else, including cars prior to 1967) were assembled, because Ford threw all the records into the TRASH in the late 1970's.

The only thing that disappoint's me on this truck; is the late 60's / 70's style mirror's; what a PITA to have to reweld the holes from wrong mirrors and add oem style back.
But with everything else; I really don't care if its a Ranger or not; A Slick is a Slick IMHO.
Just wish I had more money to support my addiction!!!!!!!!!!!! (And rehab is for quitters)
