How much did you pay when you first bought your truck?

My first was a 74 F350 SC and it had a camper on it. That was in 1988. It had a 390, automatic, some funky (not factory or dealer) air and 143k miles on it. I paid $3,600 for it, had the engine rebuilt, drove it all over the country with the camper and then a 30' travel trailer and finally a 36' fifthwheel that weighed in at over 12k lbs. I think that began killing her. Went back to a camper and sold her in 1992 for $4,700.
I purchased Burt in 2000 for $2,700 with 72k on him. I've put about $10k into him since with the upgrades, replacements, etc. etc. over the years and now he has about 96k miles on him and is ready for paint, but that will need to wait now due to furlough days at the university where I work. At least I can keep him in the garage in the meantime!

My 77 f250 4x4 was listed for 1200, it had a rebuilt 400m c6 trans np203 with a part time kit new warn hubs and limited slip front and rear. the bed and cab corners are rotten. and it needed tires as it had 4 different size tires on it when I got it. I offered 700 and he was way to quick to take it. (should have offered less) I drove it home and did a power steering pump twin stick shift box and a new set of tires that a tool guy had bought and never used and I am now into it for 1100. but it has worked great so far hauled 4 cords of wood and 12,000 pounds worth of scrap iron (4 seperate trips)
I have a long to do list still which includes going thru the engine again to make some more power, will also have the trans done and have been thinking about buying a np205 and doing a doubler

I bought my 78 F250 with 71K miles on the 400m with a C6 that had a lot of original parts, including the original transmission filter/screen for $1800 last March. I hit Buy It Now on ebay and drove all the way to Kentucky from Louisiana to get it. It drove all the way home with no problems, been on the road ever since.
BTW - I changed the transmission oil and filter. Boy was that valve body nasty!
Here are pics from when I bought it:

I have had several but my first one was a new one in 73 and cost all of $2900.00. It was a bare bones special order F100 that the guy ended up not getting. Six with stick. Didn't even have a radio or cigeratte lighter and it was chartruse (think baby puke green lol) in color. I later took care of that and painted it metalflake red

I spent way more money than I originally wanted too, but I figured "what the hell". I've always wanted to do a frame up and never really looked at doing one to these trucks, but when I had the opportunity I jumped on it and I'm glad I did. The pocketbook isn't, but you only live once and if I never did it now I wouldn't have the chance later.
Also, thanks for the compliments. It mean alot knowing that others appreciate a restoration of one of these beasts.

Wow, great responses, guys. The progress many of your trucks have seen is absolutely astounding - I'm definitely green with envy.
Sorry I've been a no-reply, I've been riding her all over town (just like my girlfriend is riding me for buying this thing, d'oh!), and my friend's neighbours already know it as "the giant, loud, red truck". Friend's little sister saw me driving it and goes "he goes from driving the nicest car to that piece of junk?!" Oh pshaww, it's going to look great when I get that big dent in the side pulled!
Yeah, I was reading about a 4x4 swap and the general consensus is don't do it unless you've already got a donor vehicle. Maybe one day I'll just save up for a 4x4 later in life.
Truth be told, I've already scared a lot of teenaged girls walking home from school, by accident. The straight pipes run and point out on the passenger side and in the rear-view mirror you see a lot of people jumping. I may have to invest in a muffler, it seems.
It's definitely got its quirks, it seems like the shifter pin is broken(?), so it wants to drop into the second gear slot instead of finding its natural spot in middle-neutral. The windshield wipers sporadically work; they didn't work for a good half-hour, and then at stoplight all of a sudden they're going full power. And the carburetor spring seems sticky, high idles unless I rev it, then it drops. It's got a few other problems I'm a little "hmmm" on, but hey, time to get them hands dirty.
Sorry about the novel there - I'll get pictures up soon, it's been raining like crazy (typical B.C. weather), and I'm going camping tomorrow so I'm placing my patience in its hands for the two hour long drive.
And on an enthusiastic note, I guess I didn't get a terribly bad deal at $1,100 then? Especially with a low market for these age trucks, though there are a handful of 1980+s around, but I didn't want that style. Alright, time to pack. Adios guys, for the next four days!
Oh and the headlights don't work, but the high-beams do. Hehhh?!

In the past I have owned 3 Bumpside trucks, but have always wanted a '73 Highboy (like my dad had when I was a kid). I have driven a few dent's, but never owned one. Well, two weeks ago I went and looked at a '78 2wd F250 that I was thinking of using as a parts truck and doing a body swap onto a '73 Highboy frame and running gear. For the price he was asking, I did not expect too much. To my suprise, the only major repair that it will need is new floor pans. So, I am now the new (first time for me) owner of a 1978 2wd F250 (w/o an engine). I picked it up for $400.00. Now I just need to find the right '73 F250 for the swap.

Buck I love your 250. You've done a great job on it!
That's not Oil on the ground behind the front tire is it? Lol..
I swapped a cab for my cousin on a 79 250 in trade for a complete 79 150 which is the chassis for my Black Project.
I then bought a perfect rust free 2wd for $2000 for all the body parts.
I currently have nearly $20,000 in it now and it;s still not on the road.
