So this truck i bought came with a bunch of cool stuff...
gps lift tires... yada...
and a hypertech power programmer. so I load it up no options to correct my speedo (dammit)
and I am running premium so I take it on the road and jam on the gas after programming it.
what a dissapointment.... seriously there can't be a power increase I can't feel it shifts arent any firmer. I was expecting some fun but this is garbage. (I kinda figured it wouldnt wow me but there is no difference.)
so now is there a programmer that can add power... (doubt it) and more so fix my speedometer issue as I am running 35's
Those 35's are going to sap a lot of power. Do you know if the truck has been regeared? Also, according to the GPS, is the speedometer off?
That programmer probably won't do you a whole lot of good on these truck. If you can't feel a difference, I would consider selling the programmer.
If you are willing to run premium gas, advance the timing manually. Depending on a few factors, you may be able to run 10*-12* base timing on regular gas. Make sure your cap, rotor, wires, plugs, air & fuel filters and all oil/fluids are good to go before you start modding it. Also, make sure the throttle body and MAF senor filaments are clean too.
There a lot of power to be had out of these SBF's, it just depends on how much you are willing to spend...
Regearing is definately a good idea, but instead of 4.10s go with 4.56s or even 4.88s. I have 4.10s and 32s and its about perfect, so I would go lower for 35s.
I didn't see it mentioned. What year is your truck? If its 92 up you can reprogram the speedometer for the tire size.
EDIT: I just saw what year it is.
Since your truck has 35s, your best performance upgrade is going to be gears. They need to be changed to a minimum of 4.10, but probably 4.56. Do you know if this has already been done?
FYI, chips, throttle body spacers, KN CAI etc are all worthless.
That truck needs gears badly, 4.36 gears would return it to the stock final drive ratio but that's probably not availlable so pick the next ratio numerically higher which is likely 4.56.
And as the others have already stated tuners are of no use on these trucks, to get more power you have to do it old school and get your hands dirty.
