I'm about to attempt to swap leaf springs on my 87 F-150. I found a set off a f350 at the local junkyard. Has anyone attempted this or has any knowledge on the subject. Are the frames predrilled for a different applications or am I going to have to get the leaf brackets of the f350 and drill new holes?
Gonna need some more info, specifically two pieces of info: is your F-150 2WD or 4WD, and what year is the F-350 your "new" springs came off of?
I'll go on the assumption that the 350 donor is a '97 or earlier...the only thing that might slow you down is if your 150 is 2WD. 2WD used 2½"-wide springs, where the 4WD had 3"-wide springs. All hope is not lost if you have a 2WD...all you need is the hangers and shackles from a 150 4WD/250/350...and they can be had at fairly reasonable prices new.
A couple words of advice...leave the rear lift blocks out (unless lift is your main reason for doing the swap), and prepare for the ride to be significantly stiffer. Also, prepare to do something about the front ride height...I did my 250 rear spring swap first, and even without the rear lift blocks, the rake on my 150 was borderline ridiculous.
