TPS - Throttle Position Sensor FYI
#31
Hey Payson, does this also hold true to a 1997 f-350 7.3 with an auto e4od ? MY TPS WENT OUT AND IT IS LOCATED ON THE PEDAL ALSO . Only difference is the tps is high up on the pedal assembly and the ivs is lower down on the pedal so they are not together like to ones on your picture. I got a tps from O'Rilley's that was identical to the old one but it didn't work. Am I missing something here ?Ford dealer says you can't buy it separately and they are asking $459.00 for the whole pedal assembly... Too much money for my pockets...

Glad to see there is someone else that has installed the separate TPS and can attest to the fact it works.

Wiring...
I am trying to switch out the same pedal assembly you pictured. I am going from the older 2 connector to the newer single connector with 5 integrated wires. Bad thing is the new wiring harness has 10 ALL WHITE leads coming off of it. I planned on matching the wire colors from the new harness to where I cut the wires from the vehicle, so now I don't know which wires should connect to the factory wires coming off the Excursion. Anybody with the single connection pedal installed care to post a pic of the wiring connected to the single harness head? I know I only need 5 wires connected, not all 10 that came with the new head. Thanks in advance...

I have one of those PPS, or TPS that I bought from TechChoice Parts Distributors, LLC for my e99 model and it did not work. TechChoice stop replying to my emails after I asked for my money back, so I am stuck with it. If anybody wants to check it on newer model, I can mail it with no money and if it works, you pay me what you think is right. PM me with your email address if interested.
What is says on it is 699-201 and 51984 CHN and has 3 prongs

Once I got the wiring sequence, I was able to pull the old accelerator/APS/IVS, rewire the harness, and install the new accelerator in an hour! FWIW, I posted the same question on another Ford forum and have been waiting a week with no response. On FTE, I got pics and PDF file in about 6 hours. I like this place!!!
I also have a couple of Hondas, and went looking for answers on a couple of those forums. I guess I expected a similar experience. What a disappointment THAT was!
Yours is not an unusual case. We all learned something from it, and it will continue to be here for next time.
Stick around and participate. You can add to the collective knowledge that makes FTE what it is: a cut above.
