Your 7.3 injectors seat in Brass cups that will crack and fail over time. The cups isolate the injector from engine coolant. The coolant flows over the top of the combustion chamber for cooling and the only space it doesn't is where the injector sits. They go through a lot of stress and fatigue and all brass cups will eventually need to be replaced. With the newest motors out there being 7 years old, and the oldest around 16 years old, they are dropping like flies these days.
It's definitely a DIY project, vs paying $600 - $1k for a dealer or other shop to do the work.
Jim, always a day late........ I just bought the factory Ford tools from a guy on here for $175. Dam! For anyone else wanting this tool, this is a SMOKIN' deal. The tool from Ford is $600, and it doesn't look as good as the setup Jim is selling.
I went back and reread the link and now see the $100 for the cups and $185 for the tool. So together that would be around $285. Is that correct?
Yup, that's it. Price will increase after the introductory deal is done.
Cody, I've been working on this for about 4 months, something so simple seems to take the longest to figure out without having tools on hand to see how they work in the first place.
Just not enough time in the day, but I'm glad they are finally done.
