There is a push button above the ignition switch that does nothing on the 1966 F100 I just bought. What does it go to? It is not on my 1966 custom cab. I'm just curious.
On the opposite side of the dash, in the same location as the driver's side pushbutton, is a circular indentation. Was this used for anything, or is it simply cosmetic?
I think it was where there was a **** to pull the side floor vent open on the 64 and below ones. I guess they just used the same stampings to make the 65-66. As far as the pushbutton goes mine was missing and they were expensive. I took a chance at my local NAPA and had them to get me a 56 starter button that goes in the dash. It was six bucks and fit perfectly.
Mine activates the Secret Squirrel Bad Guy Detecto-Computer, throwing my Sweet Southern Comfort into highly armed defensive mode, a lean mean street fighting machine. Anti-tank mines in the taillights (dropped against tailgaters), side mounted swiveled .50s in the rear quarter panels and a 106 recoilless in the nose.
Wiper squirts button, indeed. How droll.
I forgot to add if you are not going with all original and want a good tank and washer motor combo check out the early 70s model cars. I got one off of about a 74 Ford, maybe LTD. It mounted perfect on the side and I got it for a buck at my local scrapyard before the car got crushed. Many of the 70-76 Fords had a nice tank.
