Mine has done it but I believe the engine was running. The only thing I can think of is the O ring on the cap is worn. I keep meaning to replace the cap but other things keep taking priority. It hasn't done it in about a year so....
Did you by any chance turn the wheels with the truck off? Mine overflowed once while doing that.
No. That is what was odd about it.
I have had a small amount of fluid leak out while changing brake pads or tie rod ends, but that was from turning the steering while the pump wasn't running.
This leak happened while it was sitting overnight.
Did you put power steering fluid in your reservior, or transmission fluid? I don't know that this would cause the puking, but I just wanted to make sure because our pumps don't use power steering fluid and you specifically said "PS fluid" in your post.
Yeah, our trucks take ATF for the PS system. As to why it puked sitting still not running, I'm at a loss. The system isn't sealed however -- there is a vent in the cap. It's not overfilled, is it??

Yes, sorry.
I thought it went without saying. I referred to it as PS fluid because I put it in the PS reservoir. I added ATF when it puked.
I should have been more clear.

No, not overfilled.
When it pushed up through the cap, it looks like it came through the vent hole. My cap has 4 ribs in it with valleys between the ribs. There was fluid in the valleys when I checked it after noticing the puddle in the driveway. It looks like the valleys filled up and spilled over the side of the cap. From there, it ran down the reservoir, onto the gearbox and then to the driveway.
Did you ever figure out what caused this? I had mine do this exact thing overnight.

There are vids on how to change out the old TRANSMISSION oil in the power steering system. If the Transmission oil has not been changed for new in a few years, I would suggest doing that as a start.
