I got a 1990 F-250 7.3 Diesel and I found a set of flowmasters off of my dads old chevy van. Its a 3500 and it had a 5.7gas 1987. The reason for the question would the flowmasters on there be good to use on my truck? it still has a stock muffler and everything but would like to know since the flow masters on his chevy van are duel piped could I still duel pipe them on my truck and expect good results?
On a diesel I would run a large single exhaust. With straight a straight through muffler or glasspack. Chambered mufflers and diesels really don't go together. The mufflers you have are probably 2.25 or 2.5 inch. I wouldn't use them. Of course I won't use Dronemaster on anything.
I don't like Flowmaster anyway, but on a diesel it sounds like dog crap.
Just run a larger diameter single exhaust it sounds the best on diesels. Look at some of the kits available with the larger piping and straight through mufflers.
If you set on dualing it out then use 2.5 inch pipe and a pair of glasspacks.
If you do some searching on what the diesel guys do, you'll find that this is not the best way at all.
If I had a truck like yours I would probably run single 3-4 inch pipe with a long glasspack of the same inside diameter. Then a 4 or so inch tip in the stock location. I like the slash cut tips better and not the rolled lip. Also dont get a short one they look goofy.
Off topic, but even on a gas truck, I don't recommend true duals. With the front gas tank in the way, you can't make them exactly the same. They both have to be ran down the passenger side. It won't flow any better than a larger diameter single.
