Hey everyone, I wanted to know where I could get a flat/smooth (idk what there called) back window. Right now I have the sliding but I think it really looks ugly for what I am trying to do with my truck so I just want a solid one. Where can I find me one? and how much cost am I looking at thanks.
You can also look at junkyards. I'm not sure, but I believe the rear windows are installed with the split rubber surround as apposed to being glued in, which makes them pretty easy to remove and install.
to install the split rubber kind the best way to install is to take a small rope and wrap it all the way around the window inside the groove.. put as much of the window in as you can by hand and then start pulling the rope from the outside and she will just pop in.. last one i did, i had her in 5 min.
However there are some things you need to know. Ford changed the thickness of the glass for the solid window in 1980. Made the window thinner. They also changed the seals as a concequence. Although a 1973-1979 window will work in a 1980-1996 and vise versa, the 1973-1979 window is thicker. Therefore you need to get the correct seal for what year window you are using. To make matters worse, some reproduction places and glass shops do not know this little quirk, and to compound the fact that Ford obsoleted the parts for the 1973-1979, and made you buy the 1980-1996 parts as a service part replacement, there are a lot of "ill" fitting windows out there.
Here are the Part Numbers for the different seals. Make sure the year of the seal matches the year of the window, or there might be fitment problems.

Ok thanks eveyone. I would be willing to swap but im in md and would not want to travel that far when I can go to a junkyard and surly get one for pretty cheap. Thanks again
Ok so I got a back window and probally tomorrow I will be swapping the too out would anyone be willing to but my sliding window its in perfect condition I just like the looks of the solid window more
Make sure you try your hardest not to lock your keys in the truck,as swapping the sliding window removes one of the easy ways back into your cab.I've gotten into locked trucks plenty of times through sliding windows*,it's nearly impossible in a non-slider truck.
*Side Note-The trucks were all friend's trucks. They locked their keys in,were too worried to think clearly,so I saved the day and popped the lock, opened the windows, leaned in,grabbed the keys, all is good.
