I have had 4 trucks with a 4sps all 4x4s all 73-79s and the one I have now is a auto. I love the 4sps but at 55 years old now it is so nice in stop and go traffic not to have to hold that damn clutch down. I guess it all comes down to what you are doing with your truck. I personally like the clutch better for 4 wheeling but I use my Jeep for that, ( the truck is just to damn big to go where I like to go) I mostly use my truck for hauling and towing my small camp trailer, so it sees the road mostly so the auto is the way for me.
Well I don't have either lol. I have a 3-speed manual and I love it. We just got done converting it from a 3 on-the-tree to the floor, and I definetely like it better that way than on the column. I'm a new driver and I love the idea of "rowing my own gears".
I commute sometimes over 2 hours one way to work in a car with a 5speed. I hate it!! On the other hand, on the open road its a lot more fun to drive a stick..
Burt is automatic and I must say I do prefer it. My right hand is free to eat, cruise the internet, text, drink coffee, flip off other drivers, and read a book while I drive....

I have a 4 speed in my 78, and a auto in my bronco, I hate the auto for off road, but like it for the daily commute I like the 4 speed for towing and such but it gets old in stop and go traffic
Had the looooong shift 4-speed np435. Now have C-6 auto. Love the auto in the mud! Do not miss np435 as much as I thought I would. I would miss the stick more in a Mustang with short shifts I think. The np435 was just to long to be much fun. Now it is just push and burn!!!
