OK first off let me say this isn't my first post. I rebuilt my computer and now for some reason when I tried to log on it will take my old username but not the password so I just reregistered.
Now for the problem. I have a 1997 F250 4X4 with the 5.8 but no shop manual. How do you replace the fuel filter? I can't seem to remove the lines from the old filter even though I removed the snap locks. I must be missing something, any help would be appreciated.
The snap locks are secondary retainers. You'll need to purchase a "tool" to remove the filter. The "tool" is basically a split ring that slides over the fuel line and into the fitting. This ring will release the springs inside the fitting that is the primary retention system. Just go to a local parts store and ask for a Ford fuel line "tool". They come in either plastic or metal... I've had my plastic one for 10 years now and it still works fine.
