Hey all! Great site! I bought a 2002 7.3 lariat, 6-8 inch lift.. not sure, tires 315 toyo's E rated... with the edge chip. There are so many questions that I have I don't know where to start! One big problem is I am not up on the abreviations you use... its like a new language. Is there somewhere you have broken down the fancy speak? DP? since this is not an adult site... Digital programer? isn't that what the edge controller is? Or is that something else?
I have a stock airbox, and have the muffler on still... Whats the next mod?
I get a engine light when rocking on the truck... even just passing in anything other than the stock controller settings.... THe guys say thats normal. EGT
s get super high when pulling in the mountains... Is the snow deal a good mod?
I will get reading... I should finish the threads in about 2 million hours!
Hey welcome to the site and congratulations on the new truck. Sounds like a great find, post up some pics.
First mod I would do is the air intake. You can go with the 6637 filter and a sock. That's fairly inexpensive and blows thew stock set up out of the water. Next mod I would do is a 4" exhaust and down pipe. Thjat will help you somewhat with those EGTs.
Do you have a code reader by chance? Maybe we can all help you with that check engine light.
And DP is a company that makes tuners. DP Tuners, they are a sponser here. Great tuners. Along with the 6637 intake and 4in exhaust check your up pipes for leaks. They are the pipes that come off your exhaust manifolds to the back side of your turbo, joining via a "y" collector at the back of your turbo. They are prone to leaking. If you can see soot by looking up towards your turbo from below over the front of your tranny then you will be leaking. Passenger side is most prone. If they are leaking there is an updated "belowed" type of pipe instead of the donut seal type that is the better route for replacement. And welcome to the FTE. Stick around and you will learn a ton. What state are you in? California is now smogging diesels so you need to be aware of what may cause problems with smogging.
