Haven't fully decided on exhaust. currently it has dual (will be staying), with glass packs...we do not have the "luxury" (all sarcasm that can be squeezed out, should be) of having to go through emission testing here in Alabama...so definitely ZERO CAT-BACKS! It will be a daily driver, so not 100% sure...my neighbor has offered me an X-Pipe (haven't seen it yet) but know that it will be part of the final set up...open to recommendation...

This is what it was the day I bought it...

Spent some time sanding and priming, here is what she looks like now before the engine swap

My desire is to paint it Blue...I really like the color in the Dark Light Blue thread...hope to go with something along those lines...

As far as the oil pump...will I be able to use the one on the W now, or will I need a different one? I know the pickup line will need to be new, but not sure on the pump...if I don't have to spend the money, I would prefer not to...

First off thanks for the help thus far, I was able to pick up the engine mounts this morning, and they appear to be exactly what I need. I have been looking around for the oil pan and the pickup line...I talked to the guys at the parts house, and they for the most part gave me that blank look; as if to say, if the computer doesn't tell me, I don't know...so I need some guidance on what oil pan to purchase as well as the pick up line...John has been a great help, and directed me in the correct paths thus far, just need a few more steps to get to the opening!

1977-1979 T-bird/Cougars/LTD II came with the 351W block as well as the front sump pan, be sure to specify 351W as the 351M/400 could be found in the LTD II family of cars. You may run into a problem with the oil dipstick as the 70's 351W ran the dip stick through the front of the block/timing chain cover on the passenger side, not on the driver's side.

351w

the 351w came in trucks around 77 with front sump/ford didnt go to rear sump till 80.you can use car or truck till80.you can use your oil pump but will need to change pickup.you will need front dipstick.if you change the timing cover you get into problems with different water pumps and pulleys.some people just drill a hole in the cover and install the dipstick.

As an update: I was able to finally get the correct engine mounts, and actually get them installed yesterday. Since the engine is out, I figured I would go ahead and paint it....so I was able to pull everything off yesterday, cover up all the openings, cleaned the block with degrease solvent, and hopefully (if the rain will stay away) tomorrow afternoon paint the block, and get it ready to set back in when I get a new pan. I am waiting to hear back from a guy now, about one he has that will hopefully fit!

INSTALLED!!!!!! I haven't been able to find a oil pan or any clear concise answer on what I needed to purchase. Talked to a guy last night that recommended a $175.00 (Shipping, Tax Included) oil pan, plus another $30 for a pick up line...decided before I sank another $200+ I would just see what kind of clearance I actually needed. Put the engine in the truck, just like I pulled it out of the van, except with the correct engine mounts. Fit in like a glove! Only major adjustment thus far is the transmission tube...pulled the old one off and stuck it in, BAM! Fit like a glove! Transmission mounted up just perfect. Took a quick break to grab a bite to eat, and update the site. HOPE to have her on the road by tonight! Fingers are still crossed! But giddy like a little school girl!!!! Woooo Hoooo! Thanks for all the help and input thus far! Will update with some Awesome pics from my "LITTLE HELPER" tonight!
