When you live in "Tornado alley" like I do, it doesn't matter how well you seal those lights, the hail can/will break them, and they will leak. Sometimes, hail will even take out windshields and side/rear windows.
When there's hail, there's also lots of rain, and usually it comes down at a near horizontal angle........
Rust is starting to be a bigger issue here, as they quit using just sand during the snow/ice, and started using a sand/salt mix. I hate road salt.....
we get tornado's here as well and hail.hell we had one last fall we had one just pass town and right after got 8" rain in 1 hour.i have never had any cab lights leak.if your seals are good you have nothing to worry about, just don't let them dry out and if they do replace them.where a bouts do you live.i love watching tornado's but they scare the crap out of me.we get them about every 3 years some times more often.what makes me even more nervous is that i live in a mobile home LMAO.
I've seen some trucks with cab lights that have silicone poured all around them, and rust all over the truck. Those trucks most likely came from somewhere with alot of rain and road salt.
that's one thing i get a kick out of are guy's dump silicone and think it will stop leaks.they just dump it all around and nice and thick, looks like crap and still leaks.instead of removing the light and fixing it properly.

Yeah, I bought a car once that had a "moonroof" in it, and the PO used silicone to "seal" it up. It still leaked badly. I cut all the silicone out, and it *almost* quit leaking. Unclogging the drains did the most good, though.
I live in Oklahoma, where 'nader's are way too frequent visitors.......
Ultimately any car or truck is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it when you want to sell it, from mild to wild. The resale value is usually never what the seller thinks it's worth to him or her. Do what you want, make it what you want, hopefully when you sell you'll find someone who thinks it's as awesome as you do.
