grease seal ?

gotta 79 bronco full-time, am converting to lock-out. right side steering knuckle was blowed out and left side wheel bearings were bad so i'm replacing knuckle, wheel and spindle bearings, seals(both sides).during reassembly i kinda fogot where -FLOABT- the metal cup looking washer(?) goes in the assembly, it seems to fit between inboard (large) bearing and seal, is this right? whats the reason for this part? dude at work said leave it out, it has somthin to do with the full-time. i'm at a stand still, help me out.

Don't arbitrarily leave parts out! It goes inboard of the inboard (big) bearing. Its a dust/moisture cap. If I am interpreting your question and description of the part correctly, it should be labeled part 26 in this diagram. If not, perhaps you could post a photo of the part in question.
