you can do the filters and oil in about 1 hour taking your time. CAC is really pretty simple if they have it...it is right there in front! About the only thing simple on the truck.
O.K. speaking of CAC's, I opened my hood this morning and saw a light film of oil on/around the boot that connects the pipe to the cooler itself. Is this something to concerned about? And why would there be oil up there anyway?

first off check your engine oil level.
next you can remove the lower cac hose at the cac side and pull it back make sure no oil is in the cac.
its not uncommon to have a small amout of oil on the boots. it is bad to have excessive oil in the cac itself. excessive oil in the cac is caused by excessive engine oil levels, excessive oil level in the crankcase is knowen as oil growth in a 6.4 this happens from the engine regen process.
thanks for the help, cheez it. I pulled the lower hose off and no oil ran out. I also checked the engine oil level and it's right to the max line, maybe VERY liitle over, kind of hard to tell, it seems like the reading is higher on one side of the dipstick than the other.(maybe just smudging when I pull it out.) but I wiped the oil film off the boots and will keep an eye on it. I've got about 1500 miles left on this oil. While I was at it I drained the water trap also.(got about 2 tablespoons of water) bought the truck in late January and haven't drained it until today.
