...and pull this camper 2007 Fleetwood Wilderness - Travel Trailer | RVWeb.com the 39' model...We just bought BFG E rated tires and springs/coils are the easy part...I want to go for the maximum safety and share any pertinent information with him to help.
Absolutely, positively, purchase the best weight distribution/anti sway hitch you can afford...Craigs List and e-bay are good places to pick up a used one.
Frequent any of the major "RV" Forums - most also have "for sale" lists and you may find a good buy there. The RV Forums will have many good threads on choosing and properly setting up your weight distribution hitch. Join one or more of the RV Forums - explain your situation just as you have here and I am sure you will get many references for articles to read.
The specs for your trailer say that the GVWR is 11,300 lbs. Certainly you are close to (or over) the factory limits of the Ex if you fully load the trailer.
Good job on getting the "E" rated tires...I would suggest you take the trailer to a scale as soon as possible and get some actual weight numbers on it - use the first visit to the scales to do some "first run" numbers on your weight distribution arms also.
But i have never heard of a 2 1/2 receiver. am i wrong? is there such an animal or do they mean 2 1/2 inch ball? just wondering. and again the hitch on the truck is fine.
To the OP, no offense to the good folks here. When I want information on my Ford truck I come here before anywhere. But if you want some added information and knowledge regarding towing/hitching/RVing, pop over to RV.net. A wealth of knowledge there as well, just perhaps more specific to towing issues which you are facing now. I go by gman over there as well. There are many members there towing with Excursions of every year. Good luck.

I agree to a certain point. I too am registered over there, but at least here, the info you get is tailored specifically to the Excursion. Also, over here, I've found most towing info being given takes into account whether or not the V code/B code (or some variation thereof) has been done, and will address that sub-topic at least in the most basic form.
Over there, I've run into many posts that not only don't touch on the spring upgrade, but don't even know the OEM springs are garbage.
That's why I like Joe's posts (X_hemi_guy here, crappie_fisherman over there) so much. He's very thorough (covers many of the suspension upgrades) and has a lot of towing experience.

Agreed. I was trying to stress more truck knowledge here, more hitching/towing knowledge there (on average).
To me, no offence intended, the OP seems to be struggling with some of the basics re: tow ratings, hitch classes, etc... Before she considers where changes to the OEM Ex. can be made to improve towing performance, let's get her hooked up and towing.
Anyways, between BOTH sites, there is enough knowledge to get her going in the right direction if it's possible.

Reason: spelling
So I come to find out we already have this Hidden Hitch Class V Tow Beast Weight Distributing Hitch Systems
already. So what the problem is, I am not sure now. I guess to adapt it to the Excursion and the Excursions overall performance in pulling this camper. I want to thank everyone for their help and input.
