Tranny? Washboard
I have a 94 EB Bronco w/ E4OD tranny. When the tranny kicks down from overdrive, I get a washboard vibration in the drive line. It stops when I back off the gas for a moment, and when I reaply the gas, it's fine. Doesn't seem to do it when shifting down between any other gears. U-joints seem fine. Any other ideas?

Pull the codes from the computer. You may have a solenoid intermittantly sticking inside the tranny. The entire tranny is computer controlled by the solenoid pack. If something is going bad, the computer can ususally tell.
Also, have you changed and flushed the tranny lately? I know the E4OD's in the Expeditions have a similar problem, and a tranny flush usually cures the problem.

I got the tranny flush that was suggested. I was discouraged, when I first picked the truck up, that the vibration was still the same. But, after driving it for a few days, the vibration has gradually diminished. The tranny seems fine now. Thanks for the tip!!
