i recently got a sweet deal on an older model bass boat. picked it up for 100 bucks. yep thats boat, trailer, motor, trolling motor, and fuel tank. but the idiot (previous owner) stripped the spark plug hole out and instead of getting a time-sert or heli coil they tapped it to the next size up plug diameter. then used a plug that was too long which stripped the plug hole out again because the piston hit the plug and shoved it out of the hole. now im tryin to figure out how to fix the head. any help is greatly appreciated. its a 1978 evinrude 70 horsepower if anyone would like to donate any parts. haha
The 70hp 3 cyl Evinrude is a very common motor (and good!), you should be able to pick up a cylinder head cheap from a marine mechanics scrap pile......no big deal to replace.
I wish you had posted this about 4 months ago. My friend is a marine mechanic, and just moved to Minnisota. He took all his old engines, heads, props and everything else metal to the scrap yard, since he didn't want to haul it all to Minnisota.
