I am considering adding a chip to my 2001 F-250 V-10. I tow both a fifth wheel RV and boat, and am always looking for ways to increase my truck's power. I have already added a K&N Intake and Gibson exhaust. I like the sounds of this chip because I need one to provide power in the lower RPM range and the ability to use 87 octane when not towing. My question is this: will the 2 stage Diablo Delta PN PDQ-3101 handle both of these requirements??
Yes, it will let you switch to stock (87 octane) plus you can add another program to it in the future if you want. Both Diablo and Superchips provide tuning across the entire RPM range so you'll gain on the low end as well as the top.
Appreciate the response. I have one additional question. Can I have the chip programmed to change my trans shift points? I do not like the early downshifting from 3rd to 2nd when ascending a hill with my 5ver. Currently it downshifts around 2500 RPM at a little past 1/2 throttle causing the engine to rev up to around 4000 rpms, ( too high for me ). I have been told this can not be done since Ford is trying to keep the torque reduced on the trans. I know the additional power I will get with this chip will help since the downshift is relevant to the throttle postion, but any additional help would be great.
Shift points are optimized with the chip -- far better than stock shifting. If you need something very specific then you're in the realm of custom tuning and we would need you to give us a call so we can have you fill out a custom sheet.
