99 5.4 engine knock
just bought a 99 f-250 with 151,000 miles.got a great price.at start-up it sounds almost as loud as a diesel but after a couple of minutes it quiets down to where you dont notice it.any ideas on what this would be?(this did'nt do it on test drive i think motor was warm because they just cleaned it up)

The noise is probably piston slap. When the pistons warm up they expand in the cylinders and the noise goes away. Ford had some issues with this when the 5.4l first came out. I had a 1999 light duty F250 that did it for 100,000 miles and it was fine. There is a tsb about it I will see if I can find it.

Put a good grade oil in it, something like Brad Penn or Mobile one and forget about it. My 2001 V10 has been like that since I've owned it. It has 175,000 on it and the noise doesn't even cross my mind when it comes time to use the truck. IMO the Brad Penn oil has lessened the noise out of all the oils that I have used.
