RIP, Davy Crockett
Just read that Fess Parker, who was Davy Crockett on TV, has died at the age of 85. He was talking with his family, and suddenly died. Another TV icon that we have lost. RIP, Fess Parker, and thank you for years of great TV memories!

Man did I love that show as a kid. It inspired many a great adventure in the woods around the family cabin in the mountains when I was a boy.

He was also the father in 'Old Yeller.' One of the few films that guys are authorized to shed a tear in.

Fes Parker also had a major roll in an early 60's war movie, Hell is for Heroes.

I got to meet him when I was about 11, he was filming "Climb an Angry Mountain" on Mt. Shasta and I was there skiing. A really nice guy, he was as just cool as you would expect.

RIP, Fess...and thanks for all the good years you gave us.
