Got the bad news today-STC Replacement
After taking my 2005 F250 PSD to a second dealer..only because the first dealer couldn't Replicate the problem. I am being told that my STC (snap to connector) is bad...Hard start after Hot. The cost will be $889.60 for labor and $50.00 for parts plus tax..and I think the part is an "O" ring...does this amount sound right?
Also, I looked in my owner's manual and I Quote:
"Under the Emissions Performance Warranty the following components are covered for 8 years or 80,000 miles which ever comes first (BTW mine has 78K on the clock)
"Emissions Performance Warranty Coverage":
List of parts covered: ( I'll not list all the parts for space purposes just the ones I think applies to my situation-maybe)
Fuel injection system
CPU
Fuel Sensor
Power Control Module
And the list goes on.
"Also covered by the warranty are all emissions-related bulbs, hoses, clamps, brackets, tubes gaskets, SEALS, belts, connectors that are used with components on the list of parts, above."
All of the above is taken verbatim from my Owner's Manual.
Now, this being stated, isn't the STC part of the HPOP which sends oil to the injectors and fires same..And is part of the Fuel injection system in IMHO..and I'm about to the point of not being to humble..
One last thing..I'm about 95 days out of the 5/50,000 warranty..where is the compassion?
Let me know what you guys think...I got a $1,000.00 riding on this. Lot of Miller

Done Deal-and very Happy!
Ford agreed to "kick-in" almost $450.00 to help me on my repair since I wasn't that far out of warranty, but was out of 5/50,000 warranty period.. I think what they offered/did was way, way more than fair, since I didn't even buy the truck at this dealership. But I had bought two previously from them.
Bottom line, installed new (Improved) STC.. My cost out the door $400.00 plus Tax...I'm very, very happy..I have at times seen some disparaging post on some Forums, and one can say what they want about Ford/Ford Dealers, but this experience is one of the reasons I'll continue to only drive a Ford diesel...period. And proves there are some very good Dealers out there!
So, all this being said, I felt compelled to post here about a Ford Dealership that went the extra mile to make me happy!
If you are ever in the Memphis, TN area and are in need of service I can strongly suggest you go to Dobbs Ford at Wolfchase and see Ken Watson, Service Manager, Earl Carlton, Service Adviser, Master Certified, and let Dave Feret, Head Diesel Tech work on your PSD.
How can I buy a truck from anybody else but these people?
I think you will be both impressed and Happy! I was/am!!
