02 F250 automatic hubs (button on the dash) Had the truck for 3 years now. 4x4 has always worked could never get 4low to work though (no light on the dash), read the truck manual and followed procedure still no go.
Today I decide to try 4 hi everything is fine get home put the trans in N and shift to 2 hi, couple of clunk sounds it goes in 2 hi...I'm curious of the sound and retry 4 hi no light or sounds drove the truck on the road as the manual states you may have to do no go. Hubs have always been in the auto position, so I try turning them to manual they turn freely all the way, dive the truck no 4wd. I have read over some of the other threads about this alot of things to try but no one replies back if they got it fixed and what fixed it. So start with fuses, relays and connections on the TC....then what? Do you have to remove the wheels to gain access to the vacuum lines at the spindle location?
Thanks in advance.
Haven't had much time to troubleshoot this problem but the vacuum lines look fine cleaned the electrical connector on the transfer case for the motor still no 4x4.?????
With the key in the on position, turn the **** to 4x4 and listen for the motor to engauge the transfer case. If you don't hear the motor, you may have to replace it.
