what are some signs of the trans going? and what is a good operating temp for the trans?

Hesitation, and slow droppin into gear, RPM's up and no movment. List goes on really. Check your fluid to see if its dark and burnt smelling.

Major slipping I was always told or nothing in a certain gear meaning RPM's with no movement or like the guys said, hi fluid temps.

I have every symptom and some and it's still going. It's way passed it's way out too. It left me stranded on a left turn friday and I had to push it to get going. After it cooled off for 15-20 minutes it was fine. It's been doing that to me for about a few months. I'm trying not to drive it to much but I need a hd truck and can't afford to rebuild it right now.

I know it's broken though.
